Steps to Get Your Drivers License Back After an Ohio DUI
There are a couple of important steps you will need to take to get your Ohio drivers license back after your OVI / DUI administrative or court license suspension has expired. If you do not follow these steps and are stopped by a law enforcement officer, you can and most likely will be charged with additional traffic offenses.
- Pay your $475 reinstatement fee
- Show current proof of insurance to the Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles (BMV)
Once your court-ordered OVI / DUI suspension has ended, you need to make the above-listed arrangements with the BMV before you begin driving. Be sure to refer to your driving privileges paperwork so that you know exactly when your administrative or court license suspension is over. If you are unsure of the end date of your license suspension, contact the Ohio BMV at (614) 500-3836
